Applications
Grey cast iron EN 1561 EN-GJL-250 is used for machine beds, gearbox housings and pump components. Documented foundry examples also include air-conditioning compressor bodies and crankshafts, hydraulic handling-equipment levers and engine flywheel rings. Other cast components used in this material family include machine-tool bases, gearbox cases, bearing housings and stationary frames.
Typical settings include industrial and agricultural machinery, equipment manufacture and maintenance replacement. Component duty and casting section govern the choice of grade.
