What is Ferritic Stainless Steel
Ferritic Stainless Steel are iron-chromium alloys with chromium content is normally 11-30%. They can be strengthened slightly cold working, and it’s magnetic. This steel exhibit excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Its corrosion resistance is better than martensitic but inferior to austenitic steels. They are used for presswork because of their high ductility, but are subject to brittle failure at low temperature. They have moderate strength and limited weldability and are hardenable by heat treatment. it have low coefficients of thermal expansion.
There are more than 200 different grades of stainless steel. but there are five families of stainless steel: Austenitic Stainless Steel, Ferritic Stainless Steel, Martensitic Stainless Steel, Duplex Stainless Steel, and Precipitation-hardening Stainless Steel.
